CS:GO returns to Steam

Valve has quietly relisted Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) on Steam more than two years after replacing it with CS2. The steam launch page appears doesn't seem to be changed much, compared to its original launch but still remains unlisted in the Steam store, meaning it won’t appear in search results.

This version of CS:GO seems much more basic compared to the original version. It lacks achievements, separate playtime tracking, and public matchmaking, with only private matches currently possible.

There has been no announcement, or disclosure of plans from Valve whether they want to fully restore CS:GO or if the listing is simply for maintenance purposes.

The discussion around the relisting also comes amid mixed reception to CS2, where changes to the ranking system and ongoing cheating issues have frustrated parts of the community. And unsurprisingly, just after the launch, a lot of players have quickly hopped in to try the game once again.

Valve has historically kept older Counter-Strike titles playable on Steam, but CS2 was the first time the company completely replaced a live-service Counter-Strike game, making this relisting particularly notable.
