CS2 Update: Valve Releases Premier Season 2 and Fixes Buy Bug featured at PGL Astana 2025
Valve has released a new Counter-Strike 2 update on May 13, fixing a key gameplay bug and adding some quality-of-life improvements. This is the third patch in a week, showing that Valve is picking up the pace after a slow April.
Key Gameplay Fix: No More "Buy & Throw" Refunds
The main fix targets a bug that caused controversy at PGL Astana 2025. Players were able to buy a weapon, toss it to a teammate, let them use it, and still get a refund—so long as it was done before the buy time expired.
ODDIK's WOOD7 pulled off a move like this at the event, using a Scout given by a teammate, firing it, and then having the teammate sell it back. It was allowed during the match but sparked backlash, leading PGL to ban it mid-event. Now, Valve has patched it entirely—once a weapon is fired, it can no longer be refunded.
First Mode: Season 2 Leaderboards Go Live
Season 2 of CS2 Premier is now officially underway. Global and regional leaderboards are up, letting players see where they rank in the new season. This adds more structure and competitiveness to ranked play.
HUD Update: Rarity Color Glow for Weapons
A new option has been added to the HUD settings: "Glow Weapon with Rarity Color." When enabled, your weapon in the HUD will glow in a color that matches its rarity (e.g., blue for Mil-Spec, purple for Restricted, etc.). It's a purely visual feature but adds a bit more style and personality to your inventory while in-game.
AK-47 Sticker Fix
Valve also made a small cosmetic fix to the AK-47. Before this patch, some stickers applied to the front grip would leave a small visible gap. That's now fixed—minimally scraped stickers will fully cover the grip area as intended, giving a cleaner look for players who care about skin presentation.
