What is the Armory Update in CS2?
Valve has just introduced what can be deemed as the biggest update to CS2 so far, releasing a total of three new weapon collections, a new Weapon Case, new stickers, and Charms, a fresh cosmetic element that you can now add to your skins, amongst numerous other fixes to the gameplay.
The Update introduces an Armory, which is accessible to you for a premium of $16. By acquiring the Armory pass, players can earn credits through gameplay XP. The credits earned can be exchanged for an array of newly released items present in the Armory. Let’s delve into all the notable changes this update introduces.
CS2 Charms
One of the standout features of this update is the introduction of Charms, a fresh cosmetic element that players can attach to their weapons. These dynamic items can be easily applied by just dragging and dropping a charm onto your weapon of choice. Each weapon can hold only one charm at a time.
If you want to switch things up, you can detach the charm using a Charm Detachment, which will return it to your inventory for future use. When you redeem a charm from the Armory, you’ll also receive three complimentary Charm Detachments, and if you find yourself needing more, additional detachments are available for purchase.
There are two sets of Charms released, The Missing Link Charms and the Small Arms Charms. After purchasing the pass, one random Charm from either collection can be obtained at the expense of three credits.
Three New Collections
We have received three brand new collection of skins - The Overpass 2024 Collection, The Graphic Collection, and The Sport and Field Collection. For four credits, players can obtain a random skin from any of these collections.
The Overpass 2024 Collection boasts a brand-new Zeus skin, the Zeus | Dragon Snore, alongside the covert AK-47 | B the Monster and the classified AWP | Crakow. In contrast, the Graphic Collection features the covert AWP | CMYK, the classified AUG | Lil' Pig, and the vibrant Desert Eagle | Starcade.
The Sport and Field Collection showcases what many consider the most desired skin of the entire update: the M4A1-S | Fade. Apart from the M4A1-S, players can also acquire classified skins like the Glock-18 | Axia and the Galil AR | Rainbow Spoon.
Limited Edition Desert Eagle and Gallery Case
The Armory Update introduces a time-limited Desert Eagle | Heat Treated skin, available until January 3, 2025, for 25 credits. Also featured in this update is the Gallery Case, which presents the Kukri Knife as the rare special item. Among the standout skins in this case are the M4A1-S | Vaporwave, the Glock-18 | Gold Toof, and the AK-47 | The Outsiders. The Gallery Case can be redeemed from the Armory for a mere two credits.
Other Changes
Along with the new features, Valve has rolled out several tweaks aimed at improving the game, especially when it comes to movement animations. The game was plagued with movement inaccuracies, the MJ peek being one of the most highlighted issue. Thankfully, Valve has made adjustments to smooth out player movement, so you should notice a more fluid experience when navigating the game.
They’ve also tackled several audio-related bugs that have long affected gameplay. Issues such as step sounds failing to transmit correctly to other players and voice chat malfunctions on community servers have been rectified. Moreover, the annoying water splash sounds that accidentally triggered on live players are now fixed, which should help keep the immersion intact.
Another important change is the new 7-day restriction on items you get from the in-game store, Trade Offers, and the Steam Community Market. This means that players must now wait a full week before re-trading or re-marketing these items.
